“Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof”は、言葉では言い表せないような人生の瞬間に注目した現在進行中のシリーズ。

人生の進路を不可逆的に変えてしまう出来事と、そのあとの沈黙――言葉で表現したり、完全に理解することができないこと――との関係性を探求している。オルピックは、正邪の判断が簡単にはできない状況を象徴する、両極端の性質を持つシンボルに注目する。彼女が長年魅了されてきた卵は、まさにそのようなシンボルの一つだ。卵は脆さや始まりを連想させると同時に、そのアーチ状の構造は、自然界で最も強い形態の一つでもある。オルピックは、拡大したものや失敗したプリントを通して、その過程で卵の象徴的意味がどのように変化するのかを問いかけながら、卵のイメージを抽象化していく。本質的な脆さに向き合いながら、破壊やその原因を理解することで、繰り返される破壊を防ぐことができるのではないだろうかと問う。

Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof is an ongoing series dedicated to those moments in life that defy words.
It explores the relationship between events that irreversibly alter the course of life and the silence that follows—the inability to articulate or fully comprehend them. Orpik investigates symbols with polarising qualities, reflecting situations that cannot easily be judged as right or wrong. The egg—an object she has been fascinated with for a long time—serves as one such symbol. It carries associations of fragility and beginnings, yet it is also one of the strongest forms in nature thanks to its arch-like structure. Orpik abstracts the image of the egg through enlarged, erroneous prints, questioning how the symbol’s meaning shifts in the process. By confronting this inherent fragility, she asks whether understanding the causes of breaking or destruction might prevent such situations from repeating.
